EdTech in the Classroom
#DigitalApps #DigitalTools
INTRODUCTION
Educational technology, or EdTech, involves utilising technology tools in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning experiences. It encompasses a range of resources, including computers, tablets, interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online materials. EdTech offers benefits for both learners and teachers by fostering engagement, motivation, and personalised learning experiences.
While EdTech supports student learning, it also aids teachers in administrative tasks like grading and lesson planning and facilitates communication with learners and parents. However, its effectiveness relies on thoughtful integration into the curriculum, complementing other teaching methods.
The mind map provides an overview of various EdTech tools, such as virtual simulations, online training courses, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), learning management systems (LMS), video tutorials, and gamification. Each tool serves unique purposes, from hands-on vocational training to flexible online courses and immersive learning experiences.
The examples of good practice illustrate how gamification can enhance vocational learning. Using platforms like Classcraft, Kahoot!, and breakoutEDU, learners engage in activities related to graphic design principles, earning experience points and levelling up. This approach enhances pedagogical skills, increases technological competence, improves lesson planning, allows for differentiated instruction, supports assessment and data analysis, boosts learners’ engagement, and encourages collaboration and professional growth.
